Bike to Sausalito and take the Ferry back

Whether you are an avid bicyclist or not, you'll enjoy this alternative way to experience the Golden Gate Bridge. Rent a bike at Holiday Adventures (1937 Lombard Street; 415-567-1192) and ask them the safest way to the Bridge (stay off the busiest streets). Ride across the Bridge and down into Sausalito on a road that is windy and slightly dangerous for kids. Once you get to the flatlands of Sausalito, ask where the ferry terminal is on Bridgeway in the middle of town, and take a ferry back to Fisherman's Wharf (then, there's that last part of riding back to the bike store which is sort of a bummer but bask in the knowledge that you just traveled over one of the world's leading tourist icons).
